Timor Python

Photo of Timor Python

Despite its name, the Timor python does not live on the island of Timor but on the neighboring Lesser Sunda Islands of Indonesia! Active at night, these nocturnal constrictors ambush small reptiles, birds, mice and rats. During the day, they bask in the treetops, regulating their temperature in the sun, while they digest their food and prepare for another late-night snack. If the size of this python lantern evokes your fear of snakes, fear not—the Timor python is only 5 to 8 feet long!
